A recent survey showed that interest among realtors and their clients for home technology is high.
In the past couple of years, 9/10 of realtors have been involved in buying, selling, or showing a home with technology ranging from more established systems such as monitored security to newer technologies like energy management systems. This would include programmable A/C thermostats, which add an elegant look combined with energy savings to any home.
Over half of the realtors report they are excited by these homes and believe their clients’ enthusiasm for technology is identical to their own, with almost two-thirds of realtors stating their clients like seeing newer technology when they view new homes for potential purchase.
The survey of almost 2000 realtors who were members of the NAR (National Association of Realtors), clarified realtors’ experiences with homes which have installed technologies and how they view the technology in relation to the home sale.
“There is a strong relationship between home technologies and the real estate market,” stated Rhonda Daniel, manager of market research, “the industry can help prepare realtors to be comfortable in discussing these types of systems with their clients.”
Most surveyed realtors wanted to learn more about installed home technologies and the surveyors noted that efforts should begin to teach them about these technologies now so that they would be ready for the eventual positive movement in the real estate market.
